Rod grew up and has spent his entire life in the Shire. A dedicated athlete, he played soccer for over a decade before focusing on elite track and field, representing Australia in the 200m sprint at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011. Rod began coaching little athletics and youth sprints at the age of 15. After retiring from sports due to multiple injuries and surgeries, he completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science from the University of Wollongong in 2017 and a Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Technology Sydney in 2019.
Throughout his studies, Rod worked as a personal trainer and massage therapist, gaining extensive experience in manual therapy and exercise prescription. His physiotherapy practice caters to a diverse clientele, from children to the elderly, weekend warriors to national athletes, and NDIS recipients. Over the past five years, Rod has worked in various clinics around the Shire, including the elite sports clinic LiveAthletic, where he contributed to the “Cross-bracing protocol” for non-surgical ACL rehabilitation and sports performance improvement. He has also served as on-track medical staff for Athletics NSW and Athletics Australia at various competitions.
Currently, Rod works in a small family-run clinic at a local medical center. He has a particular interest in treating lower back pain, hip pain, ACL ruptures, and muscular injuries. Now married with a young son, Rod is starting a new business venture with his family, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for helping others to his community.
